What was the result of Germany's partition after World War II?

The areas occupied by US, French, and British troops became democratic West Germany; the area occupied by Soviet troops became communist East Germany.

After World War II, Germany was divided into two parts: the democratic West Germany occupied by US, French, and British troops, and the communist East Germany occupied by the Soviet Union. This division lasted until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
